By Chris Bevan

1822: And this is where I bid you farewell. You can see the goals from White Hart Lane on Match of the Day 2 at 2200 BST on BBC Two and this website (in the UK). Make sure you join Phil Dawkes for Stoke-Newcastle on Monday - I've been Chris Bevan, and I'll see you very soon.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp on his man of the match in his side's win over QPR: "Scott Parker was just amazing. I haven't seen many performances like that. You hesitate to mention him in the same breath as Dave Mackay, who was one of best players who has ever played at this club, but it was right up there with Dave."

crosscountry29 on Twitter: "Re 1757. Don't forget that Spurs have a game in hand over Chelsea and Newcastle."

Just Chelsea actually. Newcastle play Stoke tomorrow. But Spurs have played a game less than the top-two too after their opening game of the season against Everton was postponed. If they win it, they are just a point off second-placed Manchester United.

Full time
FULL-TIME Tottenham 3-1 QPR
Alistair Magowan reports: "Gareth Bale comes to Tottenham's rescue just when they were on the ropes, but amongst the attacking headlines Spurs are also showing what good old hard work can yield."

Full time
FULL-TIME Leeds 1-1 Cardiff
Dewi Hughes reports: "A totally dominant second-half performance gives Leeds United a deserved point as Robert Snodgrass finally ends David Marshall's inspired resistance in the Cardiff goal."

1811: Time for a quick reminder of what happened at Elland Road and White Hart Lane...

Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker after his side's 3-1 win over QPR: "They came out second half and put us under pressure but we fully deserved the win, we played some lovely stuff. We've been saying it for a little while, this squad and team can go places this season."

QPR owner Tony Fernandes on Twitter: "I go to bed a pretty happy man. Lotus on the up. QPR showed what they can do 2nd half. Airasia doing awesome. Great 3rd quarter. Mas going to turnaround quickly. Caterham cars going from stregth to strength. And tune group is looking hot. Night night everyone. Happy Tony."

Infostrada Sports on Twitter: "Spurs are now unbeaten in last 17 PL London derby matches at White Hart Lane (11 wins), since 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in Sep 07."

BBC Radio 5 live
Former England boss Graham Taylor at White Hart Lane on Radio 5 live: "The big thing for QPR is to learn from this. They can't come into a Premier League game not wanting to work hard but their second half performance was an improvement after Neil Warnock had a word with them. Tottenham deserve their win."

ryantks on Twitter: "Scott Parker is a class act. The kind of grafter that every team wants. The kind of player that wins you trophies."

Quabena_Antwi on Twitter: "Nice to note that no card was shown in the Spurs-QPR match, though it was very competitive."

BootleggerUK on Twitter: "A deserved win today for mighty Spurs. Finally beating the teams we should!"

1757: That win pushes Spurs up to fifth in the table, level on points with Chelsea and Newcastle but behind them on goal difference. QPR? They stay 12th. And Luke Young plays for them, not for Tottenham!

1754: Ah, it was Luke Young with that last-gasp QPR effort, not Jay Bothroyd. Young was denied by the first block too - with Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale combining to clear. A frenetic end to what was ultimately a comfortable win for Spurs.

Full time
1752: FULL-TIME Tottenham 3-1 QPR

92 mins: Those Rovers fans will be saying 'I told you so' because QPR only went and created two late chances. Gareth Bale has to clear off the line when Joey Barton's corner causes chaos in the Tottenham area, and then Luke Young gets behind the Spurs defence and his shot has to be hacked away too.

90 mins: There will be three extra minutes at White Hart Lane but I think it is safe to say Spurs have got the three points in the bag already. After what happened yesterday, Blackburn fans may disagree.

87 mins: Time for a Spurs change. Scott Parker, who has worked ever so hard to keep Joey Barton quiet in the heart of midfield - as well as instigate a lot of their attacks - is off and Sandro is on for the final few minutes. The speed of the substitution takes QPR defender Armand Traore by surprise because he is still holding a water bottle when play resumes. He holds on to it for a while too.

85 mins: Jamie Mackie has looked lively since coming on for Rangers too, and he is still working hard. He brings the ball forward and eventually finds Shaun Wright-Phillips who makes a bit of a hash of his attempt to curl the ball into the top corner. It flies harmlessly wide.

83 mins: Brad Friedel is called into action here, though, dashing from his line to reach Jay Bothroyd's slipped through-ball before Shaun Wright-Phillips can nip in. Bothroyd's done his bit since coming on for QPR, but it has been nowhere near enough to turn the tide.

80 mins: ... but his shot is a big disappointment. He lifts it over the Spurs wall, but also a few yards over Brad Friedel's crossbar.

79 mins: Let's not write QPR off just yet, though, because they have just earned a free-kick about 20 yards out and in a central position when Luka Modric trips Heidur Helguson. Another goal would make the last 10 minutes interesting. Alejandro Faurlin is behind this one...

thedombutler on Twitter: "Come on Bale get a hat-trick."

76 mins: Well, Spurs are running riot again - they look like they will score every time they go forward - but I don't think Emmanuel Adebayor can buy a goal today. This time he snatches at his shot when he is played in about eight yards out, and scuffs it wide.

BBC Radio 5 live
Former England boss Graham Taylor at White Hart Lane on Radio 5 live: "What a fantastic goal that was. The interplay in and around the box was excellent and it was first-class football and a first-class finish, bent into the top corner by Bale."

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Tottenham goal: What a goal this is, to calm some frayed Spurs nerves. Rafael van der Vaart's quick feet start it but then Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale take over, exchanging passes with the neatest of one-twos near the edge of the area before the Welshman curls a peach of a shot past the helpless Paddy Kenny. Not even he could stop that one.

71 mins: GOALFLASH Tottenham 3-1 QPR (Gareth Bale)

From Michael in Perth, via text: "If QPR get anything out of this, Tony Fernandes has to get his rather large chequebook out and give Paddy Kenny a rather large bonus. He has been sensational today."

67 mins: In contrast, QPR keeper Paddy Kenny has really earned his corn today. He's the reason his side are still in with a shout of a point, and keeps making saves too. This time he is behind Benoit Assou-Ekotto's fierce drive from the right-hand corner of the box.

65 mins: Is this Brad Friedel's first save? I think so. QPR come forward with a spring in their step and Alejandro Faurlin lets fly from about 25 yards out, bringing a solid low stop from the Tottenham keeper.

63 mins: Just when QPR finally manage to get a foothold in this game, they almost throw it away. Paddy Kenny spills Rafael van der Vaart's free-kick at the feet of Emmanuel Adebayor, who pulls it back for Gareth Bale in front of goal. Kenny redeems himself, though, with a fine reflex stop.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
QPR goal: Heidur Helguson gets his head on a corner and sends the ball towards Jay Bothroyd, who nods home from close range. That was QPR's first effort on target too. They are right back in this one now.

61 mins: GOALFLASH Tottenham 2-1 QPR (Jay Bothroyd)

pp0u20e8 on Twitter: "Interesting to see the QPR owner talking about this game in the past tense... Not much hope?"

James Olley, chief football correspondent for the London Evening Standard on Twitter: "Taarabt has come back out and is sat on the QPR bench for the second half, for those checking local bus stops."

BBC Radio 5 live
Former England boss Graham Taylor at White Hart Lane on Radio 5 live: "Jamie Mackie has worked his socks off since coming on and QPR have started the second half really well, compared to the first half."

57 mins: Credit to Rangers, though, they have not given this one up. Some lovely skill by Shaun-Wright Phillips sees him dink the ball over Kyle Walker after reaching a ball which looked like it was going to bounce over the by-line on the right. He pulls it back for Heidur Helguson, whose shot is deflected wide off Younes Kaboul's back.

55 mins: This is probably QPR's best spell of the game, but it almost ends in Tottenham's third goal. Emmanuel Adebayor races forward from the half-way line and has space for a shot on the edge of the Rangers box... but Danny Gabbidon recovers to block his low effort.

53 mins: QPR have improved since the break, but that's not hard. They need a better end-product than this, though. Jay Bothroyd looks up on the right-hand edge of the area but lifts his shot high and wide of Brad Friedel's goal. I don't think the Tottenham keeper has had a save to make yet.

51 mins: A third Tottenham goal would kill this game off and they aren't far away from it here. Rafael van der Vaart latches on to the ball on the edge of the area and fires in a rasping shot that is swerving into the bottom corner until Paddy Kenny pushes it to safety. A top-notch stop.

48 mins: Good chasing from Jamie Mackie, who doesn't give up on a hopeful ball from Armand Traore... but he doesn't get any reward for it. Spurs defender Younes Kaboul whacks it against the QPR forward, and that's a goal-kick.

Whistle
1704: The second half has just started, and Tottenham are already back on the attack.

1703: A couple of changes for QPR at half-time. Jay Bothroyd and Jamie Mackie are on for Shaun Derry for Adel Taarabt, who has not exactly impressed on his return to White Hart Lane. I wonder if the Moroccan will hang around to watch the second half?

QPR owner Tony Fernandes on Twitter: "Spurs played awesome. But hey this is all about building. No team got it right straight away. Good to see Gabbidon back."

From anon, via text: "Re 1653. The only way Warnock is going to stop any more Tottenham goals going in is if they tell the team bus driver to take them home..."

From anonymous Tottenham van, via text: "As a Spurs season ticket holder of many, many years who has to work today at can't be @ WHL, counting chickens is dangerous - I watched us lose against Man City after being 3-0 up @ half time against 10 men! There's 45 mins left for 'doctor Tottenham' to visit & save QPR!"

I also seem to recall Tottenham being 3-0 up at half-time against Manchester United at the Lane in 2001, and losing 5-3. I'm not sure that offers too much hope to QPR fans though?

Sandler41 on Twitter: "No doubt in my mind that this Spurs team is just as good as both Arsenal and Chelsea. They can finish 3rd on this form."

From Jon, Spurs fan in Eastleigh: "Adebayor needs to start hitting the target. He's playing well but if Defoe was on we'd be 4-0 up."

1653: Um, I think the only way back for QPR now is if Tottenham do a Chelsea an have two men sent off... but maybe Neil Warnock will work some magic at half-time. If you have any ideas on how Rangers could turn this one around then give him a call - he'll probably appreciate it. Alternatively, tweet the commentary via the hashtag #BBCFootball, Tweet me @chrisbevan_bbc or text in via 81111 (UK).

BBC Radio 5 live
Former England boss Graham Taylor at White Hart Lane on Radio 5 live: "It was so easy for Spurs and they played really well, but any team would have found that difficult. A team that passes it so quickly and accurately, but 2-0 is a strange score line and the next goal is crucial."

Half time
1648: HALF-TIME Tottenham 2-0 QPR
Alistair Magowan's HT snapshot:
"Tottenham's front five have been a delight so far, with anchorman Scott Parker pulling the strings like Ron Burgundy in his pomp. No exaggeration to say it could be 6-0."

TheClapperBored on Twitter: "Gareth Bale IS playing like Messi right now."

45 mins: There will be two minutes of stoppage time at the end of a first half which Tottenham have controlled completely.

Infostrada Sports on Twitter: "Vd Vaart is 3rd different player to score in 5 consecutive PL matches of Spurs after Sheringham (1993) and Keane (2004 and 2007)."

Joshings on Twitter: "Re anon via text. Now let's all breathe, Tottenham like Barcelona? They're playing QPR. Next thing Bale will be playing like Messi... relax."

Exiled_Addick on Twitter: "Spurs a talented side but QPR look relegation fodder on this form. The space Spurs have is ridiculous."

Spurs fan evanjonesaber on Twitter: "Re anon via text. Playing like Barcelona? Don't be absurd! We are much much better than that."

40 mins: Some more slick passing by Spurs ends with Luka Modric poking wide from near the penalty spot. The home side keep coming forward, though, breaking quickly from a QPR corner with a swift move that sees Emmanuel Adebayor bend his shot just wide from the left-hand side of the area.

From BigBadDom, via text: "It's going to have to be a real uplifting half-time talk by Neil Warnock to instil any sort of belief in QPR. If they concede an early goal in second half then Spurs could get a hatful!"

It might be a hatful before half-time if Spurs carry on like this...

38 mins: Now this would have been something really special. Rafael van der Vaart clips a corner out to Luka Modric on the corner of the box and he chests the ball down before pinging a fizzing shot about a yard past Paddy Kenny's post. Rangers are being outclassed here.

35 mins: Any response from QPR? Er, that'll be a no. Joey Barton has a pop from distance, which ends up in Row Z. The Rangers midfielder seems to be enjoying a bit of banter with the home fans, but his side are not exactly doing much talking on the pitch.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Tottenham goal: Almost inevitable, this. QPR fail to clear their lines and Ledley King fires in a shot from 35 yards - I would say it was heading goalwards, but it was goaing nearer the corner flag. Rafael van der Vaart is in the right place to pick it up just inside the box, though, and he sends Paddy Kenny the wrong way with his clever finish into the bottom corner. That's his fifth goal in five games.

33 mins: GOALFLASH Tottenham 2-0 QPR (Rafael van der Vaart)

BBC Radio 5 live
Former England boss Graham Taylor at White Hart Lane on Radio 5 live: "The one thing that would disturb me if I was QPR boss Neil Warnock is that his players are heads-down, not looking interested - as though they feel they are not good enough."

From anon, via text: "Spurs playing like Barcelona at the moment. Champions League dream alive?"

notmyipod on Twitter: "Nice finish by Bale, now to make sure we don't let QPR back in the game."

28 mins: Another Spurs chance. Benoit Assou-Ekotto reaches Emmanuel Adebayor's over-hit cross and fires it back into the six-yard box, where Gareth Bale is waiting. He swivels to meet the ball but cannot keep his shot down. They could be out of sight by now, but it is still only 1-0.

26 mins: QPR are not exactly helping their cause here. Anton Ferdinand and Danny Gabbidon dally in possession on the edge of their own box and Scott Parker nips in. Spurs have men over too, but Gabbidon gets back to clear the danger.

24 mins: Nothing has changed since Spurs scored. They are still dominant, with Scott Parker and Rafael van der Vaart running the show. The Dutchman has just had another shot too, but his daisy-cutter from outside the box is easily dealt with by Paddy Kenny.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Tottenham goal: It's been coming, as they say. Rafael van der Vaart, unsurprisingly, is behind it, sending Aaron Lennon scampering across the edge of the box. Gareth Bale is arriving at speed to his left to pick up Lennon's pass and hammers an unstoppable angled drive past Paddy Kenny. That's his first goal at White Hart Lane since New Year's Day.

21 mins: GOALFLASH Tottenham 1-0 QPR (Gareth Bale)

20 mins: The visitors have just had their first shot too, well two of them actually. Adel Taarabt scuffs his effort outside the box and it falls for Heidur Helguson, who can only divert it over.

17 mins: At last QPR threaten, when Joey Barton wins a free-kick down the right. He takes it too, delivering a dangerous cross which Younes Kaboul does well to nod clear.

captain_retro on Twitter: "QPR really riding their luck, it could and probably should be 3-0 by now."

15 mins: We've not seen much of QPR at the other end, mainly because they have barely got out of their own half so far. They have more defending to do here too, with Emmanuel Adebayor feeding Gareth Bale down the left then darting into the area to try - and only just fail - to meet his cross at the near post.

12 mins: Another golden Spurs chance... is wasted. Rafael van der Vaart sends in an inviting free-kick from the left and Emmanuel Adebayor rises in front of goal, but can only direct his header wide of the far post. He should have hit the target from there, he really should.

9 mins: Yep, Fitz Hall is limping off - well, walking off very slowly anyway. Danny Gabbidon is coming on instead. He might be in for a busy afternoon.

8 mins: Not great news for QPR, this. One of their centre-backs, Fitz Hall, has pulled a hamstring and it doesn't look like he can continue.

BBC Radio 5 live
Former England boss Graham Taylor at White Hart Lane on Radio 5 live: "It's been a breathless start. Tottenham have had most of the possession so far and it's important that QPR see off this period."

davidtaylor414 on Twitter: "fantastically bright start from Spurs. Already they look up for this!"

5 mins: Paddy Kenny has to be on his toes when the resulting corner comes in too, throwing out a leg to keep out Gareth Bale's flick. The ball comes back to Rafael van der Vaart, who is fouled on the edge of the area and looks like he wants to take the free-kick himself... but it is blasted over by Benoit Assou-Ekotto. Phew. A cracking start by Spurs, but it remains 0-0.

3 mins: Spurs first attack, and they should be ahead. Luka Modric's weak shot from the edge of the area is picked up by Rafael van der Vaart, who cannot stop scoring at the moment... but is out of luck this time. He tries to place the ball past Paddy Kenny, who makes a superb diving save to push it round his left-hand post.

Whistle
1600: And we're off. QPR, who are in their orange away kit today, get us under way.

1558: The players emerge at White Hart Lane, which means kick-off is just moments away. Spurs/QPR fans, are you feeling confident, or nervous... or a bit of both?

mikeastley17 on Twitter: "Spurs will batter QPR today, they struggled against a nine-man Chelsea last week."

QPR boss Neil Warnock on his side's task at White Hart Lane today: "I think we've done well away from home apart from the Fulham debacle where if we play like that against Tottenham they will get double figures. Anton Ferdinand and I haven't discussed the racism allegations. Tottenham is a big enough game without all the hullabaloo that has been in the media over the last week."

TOTTENHAM v QPR TEAM NEWS
Alistair Magowan reports:
"Centre-back Ledley King returns to the Tottenham side in place of Sebastien Bassong after suffering an injury against Newcastle two weeks ago. Elsewhere, Rafael van der Vaart will be looking to score in his fifth consecutive league game, thereby matching a club record. For QPR, Armand Traore comes in instead of Clint Hill at left-back with Anton Ferdinand and Adel Taarabt also starting."

BBC Radio 5 live
1547: A quick job for you before kick-off. Give this page a manual refresh to get the correct as-it-stands table on the right, and to listen to live commentary from White Hart Lane on BBC Radio 5 live. Done? Sorted.

OptaJoe on Twitter: "6 - Emmanuel Adebayor has played against six London clubs in the Premier League and netted at least once against all of them. Guvnor."

From anon, via text: "Where would Spurs be without VdV's goals? One man team, eh Chris? Eh? Eh?"

Hmmm. I think this is a thinly-veiled reference to my jibe on Saturday about Arsenal being a one-man team... shortly before Robin van Persie's hat-trick against Chelsea.

sampresland on Twitter: "Everyone talking about Taarabt, but keep an eye on Faurlin, now he's a real gem. Fantastic passer of the ball."

Tottenham v QPR line-ups
Tottenham:
Friedel, Walker, Kaboul, King, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Parker, Modric, Bale, Van der Vaart, Adebayor. Subs: Cudicini, Pavlyuchenko, Gallas, Defoe, Bassong, Livermore, Sandro.
QPR: Kenny, Young, Ferdinand, Hall, Traore, Faurlin, Derry, Wright-Phillips, Barton, Taarabt, Helguson. Subs: Murphy, Hill, Gabbidon, Bothroyd, Mackie, Buzsaky, Smith.
Referee: Howard Webb (S Yorkshire)

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay after his side picked up a point at Elland Road: "We played against a good team on a good run, and I think that this is a good point for us."

Leeds boss Simon Grayson on his side's 1-1 draw with Cardiff: "Their keeper made some good saves, but we increased the tempo and rightly we got at least a draw from a game that we could possibly have won."

TOTTENHAM v QPR (1600 GMT)
Alistair Magowan reports:
"After a week of headlines following the game between QPR and Chelsea last weekend, Rangers boss Neil Warnock wants to get back to "more pressing" football matters. And having beaten their west London rivals last Sunday, he may settle for a point at in-form Spurs. They have been helped by the seamless introduction of Scott Parker, who according to Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is a 'good foil for Luka Modric in midfield. The crowd love him here already'."

CptChocosaurus on Twitter: "QPR fan here, and I honestly can't see anything but a thumping Spurs win tonight."

skearns84 on Twitter: "We rarely lose when King plays. Taarabt can't play well because he's out of his depth at Prem level. #coys"

Alfskiii on Twitter: "Hoping Taarabt doesn't come back to haunt us today!"

From Dave B, Spurs fan in Folkestone, via text: "Loving the attacking line-up of the starting Spurs XI. With King at the back we look impressive."

BREAKING SPURS-QPR TEAM NEWS
Ledley King returns to the Spurs defence, and Rafael van der Vaart is again preferred to Jermain Defoe, with Emmanuel Adebayor on his own up front. Former Tottenham midfielder Adel Taarabt faces his former club, and Anton Ferdinand starts. Full line-ups with you in a tick.

From George, via text: "If Adel Tarrabt decides to play well then I can see QPR winning today."

TOTTENHAM v QPR (1600 GMT)
Alistair Magowan reports:
"A Tottenham win over QPR will put them level on points with third-placed Chelsea and fourth-placed Newcastle, coming on the back of a six-match unbeaten run which has propelled them into the top six. Their opponents this afternoon have had mixed fortunes against London opposition and Rangers also have former Spurs player Adel Taarabt in their ranks. Will this be the game where he finally shows the Premier League his true value?"

1517: Time to shift our focus to the Premier League, where a north-versus-west London derby is fast approaching. Will QPR shock Tottenham in the same way they undid Chelsea last week, or will in-form Spurs be too hot for Rangers to stop? Tweet the commentary via the hashtag #BBCFootball, Tweet me @chrisbevan_bbc or text in via 81111 (UK).

From Abubaker, Leeds fan, via text: "I cant believe it ended 1-1, talk about dominating."

Cardiff fan HuwOwen12 on Twitter: "I'll take 1-1. Marshall and Mason on fire. Looking good for a decent finish for the Bluebirds this season."

BBC Radio 5 live
BBC football pundit Kevin Gallacher on Radio 5 live: "On today's performance, I don't see why both teams cannot be in, at least, the play-offs at the end of the season. Both have the quality of player and but it depends on whether they can do it continuously throughout the season where any club can take points off one another."

1508: FULL-TIME Leeds 1-1 Cardiff

92 mins: Lloyd Sam tries to thread a pass through to Luciano Becchio but Cardiff have enough men back to cut that one out. Ross McCormack runs through a few moments later, but the offside flag is up to stop him in his tracks. Replays show it was the correct decision.

90 mins: There will be three minutes of stoppage time at Elland Road. Who wants the three points then?

88 mins: Peter Whittingham delivers it into the danger zone and Tom Lees has to head it behind. From the resulting corner, Cardiff go close when Mark Hudson flicks it on and Aron Gunnarsson is poised to nod home from close range if not for a superb defensive header by Aidan White almost his under his own crossbar.

87 mins: It's Leeds who are looking more dangerous as we move into the final moments of this match. They continue to hoist balls into the Bluebirds box, but the visitors are holding out, and now they have a free-kick of their own at the other end.

83 mins: ... but fires his shot straight at the Cardiff wall. Still, it breaks for Lloyd Sam on the left and he whips in a delicious cross which Tom Lees can only glance wide. A real waste, that.

82 mins: Here's a chance for Leeds, though. Ross McCormack is fouled about 25 yards out and Rob Snodgrass is behind it...

80 mins: Ross McCormack is still looking lively up front for Leeds but he is well-policed here by Mark Hudson. McCormack runs on to the ball just outside the Cardiff area but does not fancy taking on the Bluebirds defender and instead drags his shot well wide.

78 mins: Cardiff poured forward straight after conceding but Peter Whittingham fired straight at Aron Gunnarsson when Kenny Miller teed him up. Replays showed his shot was heading wide anyway. Leeds have not kept up their attacking momentum, but they have made a change - Lloyd Sam is on for Danny Pugh.

BBC Radio 5 live
BBC football pundit Kevin Gallacher on Radio 5 live: "Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall could do nothing about that. The goal has certainly livened up this game. It's end to end stuff and we've got a game on now."

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Leeds goal: Hello. Maybe football works in Mysterious Ways? Patrick Kisnorbo curls in a free-kick from the left. Tom Lees nods it back across goal and Rob Snodgrass is on hand to knock it over the line from point-blank range. All-square at Elland Road.

72 mins: GOALFLASH Leeds 1-1 Cardiff (Rob Snodgrass)

70 mins: I make a U2 gag every time I mention Adam Clayton on these text comms so I've held off so far. However, a colleague tells me that it is the 20th anniversary of their seminal album Achtung Baby on Monday, so to honour them I will say that despite those two worthy efforts by Clayton to equalise for Leeds, he still hasn't found what he's looking for - a goal, obviously.

67 mins: Leeds are getting closer, but there is still no way past David Marshall. This time he brilliantly keeps out Jonny Howson's header, and Cardiff are able to clear their lines. The Bluebirds are making another change too, with Kenny Miller on for Joe Mason.

Yellow card
66 mins: Don Cowie goes in referee Phil Dowd's book for deliberate handball to block a cross. Cardiff clear the resulting free-kick when it is bent in from the left but only as far as Adam Clayton, who smashes in a powerful first-time shot which is deflected wide.

65 mins: Leeds' turn to let fly from distance, with Adam Clayton finding space and time out side the box. He fires in a stinging drive which, luckily for David Marshall, is almost straight at him. The Cardiff keeper tips it over the top of his crossbar.

63 mins: Better by the Bluebirds, who are out of their half for the first time in a while. Peter Whittingham, a midfielder who definitely knows where the goal is, has a pop from about 25 yards out but sees the ball fly a long way over.

61 mins: Cardiff remain under the cosh but Leeds have not given David Marshall any more work to do, apart from to watch a deflected Ross McCormack shot bounce wide. Time for a change from the visitors - the brilliantly named Filip Kiss is on for Craig Conway, to add a bit more steel to the Bluebirds midfield.

From Tom in Edinburgh, via text: "Re 1415. Extraordinary to think that Howard Wilkinson was the last English manager to win the English top-flight title."

Jarworski on Twitter: "Re 1415. Lee Chapman was God for two seasons at Elland Road, one of the best old school centre forwards at his peak."

Hmmmm. I remember him as being a useful lump in the air but not much cop on the ground. Nowhere near England class at the time, was he? Still, he did score some goals. Can't help thinking English top-flight football has come on a bit since those days, although Liverpool did pay £35m for Andy Carroll...

56 mins: A change for Leeds sees Luciano Becchio sent on for Andy Keogh. They are still coming forward too.

54 mins: The Leeds pressure continues, and David Marshall has to plunge to his left to keep out a low curling Ross McCormack shot which is heading for the bottom corner of the goal. This little spell has got the Leeds fans going too.

53 mins: Another useful cross is fired into the Cardiff box, this time by Jonny Howson. David Marshall does well here too, punching the ball to safety.

51 mins: Here come Leeds. Well, sort of. Rob Snodgrass crashes in a 25 yard shot which is beaten away by David Marshall, and the ball is quickly played back into the Cardiff area where Andy Keogh sends a glancing header wide of the far post. The Bluebirds still lead 1-0.

49 mins: Not exactly a rip-roaring start to the second half by Leeds, who have actually been forced back by Cardiff since the game resumed. No goalmouth action to tell you about, but Cardiff defender Ben Turner was a bit lucky to escape a booking for cleaning out Andy Keogh on the halfway line.

adampatrick93 on Twitter: "Leeds look good going forward, defence still looks shabby. Create a few more chances reckon we will win."

Whistle
1420: The players are back out at Elland Road - the sun has disappeared though. No changes at the break for either side, and the second half has just got started.

Carl_Snelling on Twitter: "Decent first half for Cardiff in that first half. Leeds pressing too. Well taken goal by Mason."

nedthomasisablu on Twitter: "Re Cardiff goal on 16 mins. Even as a Cardiff fan, I have to admit that if O'Dea had gone over then he probably have got a free kick."

1415: Former Leeds manager Howard Wilkinson and the members of his title-winning team in 1992 are on the Elland Road pitch at half-time, well some of them anyway. Almost 20 years on, I'm still not sure how a team with Lee Chapman up front won the title. Not to mention Chris Whyte in defence... or John Lukic in goal. That midfield, though, of Strachan, McAllister, Speed and Batty was absolute top-drawer. They'd probably still do a job today, too.

From Mike in Manchester, via text: "Re. LifeofTy at 1316. Tattoo tingling with anticipation? That might be an infection mate, should really go to the doctor... "

From Allen Low, via text: "Just seen my local non-league side, Stourbridge, draw Plymouth away... an upset on the cards? I hope so! COME ON THE GLASSBOYS!"

OptaJoe on Twitter: "1 - Leeds have scored only one goal in their last five meetings with Cardiff before today's game. Uphill."

BBC football pundit Kevin Gallacher on Radio 5 live: "Both sides were going at it early, it was a bit like a chess game, but an error from Leeds defender Darren O'Dea separates the two sides. Cardiff boss Malky Mackay will have a more difficult talk at half time, even though they lead.

FairgrieveMatt on Twitter: "Biggest game HAS to be Sheffield Utd vs Oxford Utd, I remember a Division One game between the two 12 or 13 years ago!"

JohnRichardKing on Twitter: "What a draw for Halifax Town. Charlton will not be looking forward to a trip to The Shay."

GabrielOguda on Twitter: "Held my breath when Plymouth Agyle was left to the last. Should see off Stourbridge. Come on you Greens!"

Half time
Leeds 0-1 Cardiff
Dewi Hughes' HT snapshot: "Cardiff take a slender lead into the break thanks to Joe Mason's opportunist goal, benefiting from Darren O'Dea's dithering inside his own box. Leeds have stretched the Cardiff defence but the final touch has so far eluded them."

1404: HALF-TIME Leeds 0-1 Cardiff

46 mins: Another Leeds attack, another vital Mark Hudson block... this time to deny Jonathan Howson when the ball drops to him on the edge of the box.

45 mins: Leeds launch another attack as we move into stoppage time. Ross McCormack swivels to get on the end of Robert Snodgrass cross, but Mark Hudson makes a brilliant block to deny him.

HuwOwen12 on Twitter: "Re 3 mins. Empty seats? 36 quid in the away end. Shocking prices. Ah well, come on you Bluebirds. Mason to score. "

I'm including this tweet because, not only does it give an indication of why it is a far from full-house at Elland Road today, Huw sent it BEFORE Joe Mason scored.

pault1984 on Twitter: "Blyth V Gateshead potentially if Blyth get through.... Great local derby potentially."

DannyStrong85 on Twitter: "Cracking draw for the Hatters, nothing like a bit of FA Cup magic to get the blood flowing on a Sunday."

40 mins: A change to bring you up to date with too. Leeds have brought on Patrick Kisnorbo for Darren O'Dea.

38 mins: What's been happening at Elland Road then? Leeds have been attacking, mostly, but without much joy. Robert Snodgrass' header brought another decent save from David Marshall and Simon Grayson's side had a penalty shout waved away when Ross McCormack went down under a challenge from Ben Turner.

1353: Phew. Those games will be played on the weekend of 12 & 13 November. What do you make of that little lot? Plenty of tasty ties - I don't think League One leaders Charlton will fancy their trip to play FC Halifax Town for starters - and lots of other upsets on the cards.

1338: Right then, here we go. Back at Wembley the first-round draw is about to take place... who's up for the Cup?

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Cardiff goal: Leeds are unlucky here, because Joe Mason gives Darren O'Dea a little shove in the back as they chase Peter Whittingham's speculative through-ball. Until then, it looked like O'Dea was going to deal with the threat. But he stumbles inside the area, allowing Mason to pick up the ball and fire past Paul Rachubka.

16 mins: GOALFLASH Leeds 0-1 Cardiff (Joe Mason)

14 mins: We are still waiting for this draw but, in the meantime, it is Leeds who are pressing hard. David Marshall has not had another save to make but he did have to deal with a very dodgy bouncing back-pass with a couple of Leeds players bearing down on him.

1328: Coventry's 1987 FA Cup hero Keith Houchen (who could forget his diving header in the 87 final?) and Sutton's Matt Hanlan, who famously helped the non-league side beat the Sky Blues in 1988, will conduct the first-round draw from Wembley Stadium.

11 mins: I'm going to have to break off from the action at Elland Road in a tick to bring you the FA Cup first round draw, but I promise to bring you up to date with everything when it's done and dusted.

9 mins: Mark Hudson has just picked up the first booking of the day when he tangles with Ross McCormack out on the left. When the resulting free-kick comes in, Andy Keogh leaps highest and his header brings a smart reaction save from Cardiff keeper David Marshall.

It's sunny
6 mins: Leeds have come out pretty well themselves, though. Tom Lees just got on the end of the home side's first corner and his header was goalbound until it was blocked inside the Cardiff six-yard box. Have I mentioned how sunny it is? It's a lovely bright autumn day in West Yorkshire.

3 mins: Hmmm. My first thought is 'aren't there are a lot of empty seats?' Anyway, on the pitch, Cardiff have had the first effort on goal with Aron Gunnarsson's low shot being tipped round the post by Paul Rachubka. That was a good save too.

Whistle
1316: Cardiff get us under way at Elland Road.

lifeofTy on Twitter: "Watching my Leeds from Sydney. The LUFC leg tattoo is tingling in anticipation of a win! Leeds 2-1 winners..."

miniaturehero on Twitter: "MARCHING ON TOGETHER! Come on Leeds!"

1314: Here come the players at Elland Road. Leeds are in their traditional all-white home kit. Cardiff are in their slightly less traditional black-with-yellow-flashes third strip.

From Steve Deno, via text: "Spurs to smash the Hoops 4-0 - Adebayor brace, free scoring VDV and Bale!! C'mon you Spurs."

LEEDS v CARDIFF TEAM NEWS
Dewi Hughes reports: "Leeds United keep faith with the XI that lost to Birmingham in midweek, giving top-scorer Ross McCormack and Andy Keogh the chance to face their former team-mates. Joe Mason retains his place up front for Cardiff, keeping Kenny Miller and Rob Earnshaw on the bench. Ben Turner replaces the suspended Anthony Gerrard at the back and Tom Heaton returns in goal after missing the midweek Carling Cup win over Burnley."

mrhassy1 on Twitter: "C'mon the Super Leeds! Miller will be a big miss for Cardiff!"

Cardiff boss Malky Mackay on whether he is worried about whether football's 'law of the ex' means Leeds' two former Bluebirds strikers (Ross McCormack and Andy Keogh) will score against their old club at Elland Road today: "It can mean that - or it can mean you have a beast of a game. I don't worry when you're facing players up against their old side. Ultimately it's just another couple of players who played here. I know from being a player myself there is a special, nice feeling when you go back and see guys you know. And I'm sure it will be good for them to say hello to those they played with. But I'm not sure if it adds any extra spice."

Zain_Patel on Twitter: "A win for Leeds shoots them up to third! It's so close at the top of the Championship!?"

LEEDS v CARDIFF (1315 BST)
Dewi Hughes reports: "The history books would suggest an away win at Elland Road as Cardiff City arrive looking for a seventh successive victory over Leeds United. But the Bluebirds are struggling on the road, having failed to win on their travels since the opening game of the season, while Leeds can boast four wins from six on their own patch."

1257: Only two games but plenty to talk about. Leeds and Cardiff will both be looking to demonstrate their promotion credentials, while QPR must try to stop in-form Tottenham. Have they got a chance at White Hart Lane? Tweet the commentary via the hashtag #BBCFootball, Tweet me @chrisbevan_bbc or text in via 81111 (UK).

OptaJoe on Twitter: "6 - Cardiff City have won each of their last six matches against Leeds United. Bogey."

Leeds v Cardiff line-ups
Leeds:
Rachubka, Connolly, Lees, O'Dea, White, Snodgrass, Clayton, Howson, Pugh, Keogh, McCormack. Subs: Cairns, Kisnorbo, Vayrynen, Becchio, Sam.
Cardiff: Marshall, McNaughton, Hudson, Turner, Taylor, Cowie, Gunnarsson, McPhail, Conway, Whittingham, Mason. Subs: Heaton, Kiss, Miller, Earnshaw, Blake.
Referee: Phil Dowd (Staffordshire)

1250: Tottenham versus QPR (at 1600 GMT) is our sole top-flight encounter - there are a lot of London derbies about at the moment, aren't there? - but, just to whet your appetite, there's a tasty-looking Championship clash coming right up. Leeds host Cardiff at Elland Road at 1315 GMT. Still want more? How about the draw for the FA Cup first round at around 1330 GMT too.

1245: Hello. Just one Premier League game today, so even my maths tells me we are unlikely to get as many (31) goals as we did on Saturday. But I guarantee* you thrills and spills over the next six hours or so - how does that sound?

* thrills and spills are not actually guaranteed. Sorry.
