Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo have been omitted from Real Madrid's squad for their UEFA Super Cup clash against Sevilla on Tuesday night.
After starring for Wales on their run to the semi-finals of this summer's European Championships, Bale has been given an extended break and only recently returned to training.
Bale is among a number of high-profile absentees for Zinedine Zidane's side.
Germany midfielder Toni Kroos will also miss the match, which takes place at the 21,166-capacity Lerkendal Stadion in Trondheim, Norway, while Ronaldo, who suffered a leg injury in the Euro 2016 final, is also sidelined.
Ronaldo's Portugal team-mate Pepe will also not feature for Madrid, who booked their place in the Super Cup by virtue of winning the Champions League against Atletico Madrid on penalties in May.
Real Madrid manager Zidane however, has included his son Luca Zidane for Tuesday's clash. The 18-year-old, who is yet to make his first-team debut, has been included in the 20-man squad with goalkeeper Keylor Navas recovering from a foot injury.
Awaiting Madrid in the showpiece will be Sevilla, who will feature in the Super Cup for a third successive year.
The La Liga side, who beat Liverpool 3-1 in last season's Europa League final, are set to blood a number of summer signings, with Wissam Ben Yedder and Luciano Vietto included in their squad.
Ben Yedder, a reported Arsenal target, arrives in Spain from Toulouse having scored 17 times in Ligue 1 last term, while Vietto has joined on loan from Atletico Madrid.
It is the second time in three years Real Madrid have faced Sevilla in the Super Cup after the two sides met at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in 2014.
On that occasion, Ronaldo netted twice with Real running out 2-0 winners. Sevilla also lost last season's final 5-4 following a nine-goal thriller against Barcelona.
