Barcelona U-12 football stars console crying opponents in touching show of sportsmanship

Barcelona’s under 12 team proved football really is a gentleman's game after they were filmed on the pitch consoling their Japanese rivals, after beating them 1-0 in the final of the Junior Soccer World Challenge on Sunday.

Players from the local side Omiya Ardija looked visibly distraught at the final whistle, as the Barcelona team celebrated their win.

One boy was  seen crouched on the pitch with his head in his hands, while others stumbled around sobbing.

It wasn't long before the Barcelona boys noticed and rushed to hug their rivals in a touching display of sportsmanship.

One player from the Omiya Ardija team who looked particularly upset by the loss received hugs from at least half the Barcelona side.

On the Barcelona side, another player took it upon himself to give almost the entire team of his tearful rivals a pep talk.

Perhaps their seniors could learn a thing or two from the Catalan U-12's.
