Bayern Munich legend Oliver Kahn slammed Arsenal as "catastrophically bad" after their 5-1 defeat on Wednesday night.

Arsene Wenger admitted the last 25 minutes of the match were "a nightmare", but former Bayern and Germany keeper Oliver Kahn went much further.

"I've never seen a team play so bad,' said Kahn, who played 632 times for the German giants.

Kahn questioned the Arsenal players' commitment to Wenger and picked out one player in particular for criticism - his fellow countryman Mesut Ozil.

"Bayern played a team so catastrophically bad without the ball," he told ZDF television.

"The players were so passive, especially Ozil. It's as if they don't take the coach seriously anymore.

"Of course Arsenal have their qualities, especially on the counter-attack, and they have good players like Ozil, but I haven't seen him. Maybe you saw him?"

He added: "It's sad to see what Ozil is calling a performance, how passive he plays, a player of his genius and qualities - it's a shame."

After the match Bayern cheekily posted a tweet asking Arsenal, 'Same again next year?' - though it was later deleted.
