Arsene Wenger is an icon of Arsenal, says FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who admits he is glad he does not have to deal with managing at the Emirates.
Infantino was tasked with steering reform at the crisis-hit world football governing body after being elected last year following Sepp Blatter's resignation.
Infantino has already expanded the World Cup to consist of 48 teams from 2026 as well as championing the introduction of video replays for "game-changing decisions" in matches.
However, when asked for his thoughts on whether Wenger's stay at Arsenal should come to an end, the FIFA chief said he was glad he did not have to deal with the responsibility of managing the club.
"Arsene Wenger is an icon of Arsenal. Even his first name is Arsene. It's linked for eternity," Infantino said in London on Thursday.
"I'm very happy I have to deal with many other challenges, but not with managing Arsenal.
"It will be up to the managers of Arsenal to decide what the future of Arsenal will be.
"But what Arsene Wenger has done in Arsenal throughout history is certainly... he's a big personality of football. He's one of the football legends."
