Teenage Icelander Arnor Gudjohnsen has officially signed for Swansea City.

The 16-year-old, the half-brother of former Chelsea and Barcelona striker Eidur Gudjohnsen, was on trial with the Premier League club earlier this year.

Swansea sealed terms with his Icelandic club Breidablik in March and the midfielder has now joined up with the Premier League club's Under-18 squad.

"It's great to be here. I am looking forward to the challenge and I am excited to get started," he said.

"I want to progress myself on and off the pitch while I am here and develop myself for first-team football."

As well as his famous sibling, Gudjohnsen's footballing pedigree comes from his father - former Iceland striker Arnor Gudjohnsen Snr who won 73 caps for his country and played for clubs including Anderlecht and Bordeaux.

"My dad and brother have helped me a lot throughout my career. They have given me good advice over the years," added Gudjohnsen, speaking to the Swansea official website.

His stay at the Liberty Stadium - Gudjohnsen has signed a three-year deal - will be helped by the presence of one of Iceland's highest-profile players, Gylfi Sigurdsson, who has played a starring role for the Swans over the past few seasons.

Sigurdsson helped Iceland defy the odds by reaching the quarter-finals of Euro 2016.

Gudjohnsen's older half-brother, Champions League and Premier League winner Eidur, 38, was also in the squad in France.
