West Ham defender Winston Reid has picked up a calf injury but it is "nothing serious" according to manager Slaven Bilic.

The New Zealand international had to be stretchered off in the warm-up before Saturday's 3-2 Premier League defeat at Southampton.

Bilic replaced him in the staring eleven with Angelo Ogbonna and said the timing of the knock was ironic after a pre-match discussion with his team.

"It was like we were just talking; the players were doing the warm-up and it had been a long time since he had them all back and then (this happened)," Bilic said at full-time at St Mary's.

"It's nothing serious but it was serious enough to rule him out of this game."

Hammers medical staff were swift to react when Reid went down - just days after he signed a new six-year deal - and they quickly summoned a stretcher.
