We round up the latest Arsenal transfer rumours from around the British and European press on Friday, August 25.

Chelsea target Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will reject the offer of a new deal from Arsenal, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The England international, 24, is currently contracted to the Gunners until the end of June, meaning the Premier League champions would be able to sign the player for free next summer.

And the Mirror say Arsenal are facing the prospect of having to sell Oxlade-Chamberlain before the end of the summer transfer window.

The Daily Telegraph, however, claim the Blues are growing increasingly optimistic that they will sign Oxlade-Chamberlain before the transfer window shuts.

This despite Arsenal making a huge £180,000-a-week offer that would place the England midfielder among their highest-ever wage earners.

Meanwhile, the Mirror, as well as the Guardian, report that Arsene Wenger has told Jack Wilshere to prove he is worth a new contract after the Arsenal midfielder's latest setback.
