Manchester United have suffered a setback in pursuit of one of their main summer transfer targets, Antoine Griezmann.

The French international is widely touted to be at the top of Jose Mourinho's shopping list as he looks to add more firepower to his squad.

Yet Atletico could put the brakes on a potential move as the Madrid side prepare to offer the forward a new deal.

The 27-year-old striker, who delivered a hammer blow to Arsenal's Europa League chances on Thursday night, has been linked with a host of summer moves.

Jose Mourinho claims Alexis Sanchez has justified Manchester United's decision to sign him

After a slow start to his United career following his January switch from Arsenal, Sanchez shone in victories over Manchester City and Tottenham.

And ahead of Sanchez's first game against former club Arsenal this weekend, Mourinho said the 29-year-old will be "great" for United going forward.

"He was playing in our competition for years," said Mourinho. "We all know how good he was, that's why he was chased by many teams I believe, that's why we fought to have him here."
