Notts County were denied a 1-0 win against Coventry after referee Gavin Ward gave Coventry a controversial penalty with replays suggesting it should not have been awarded

Referee Gavin Ward gave it - but should Coventry's penalty against Notts County in the League Two play-offs have been awarded?

With the first leg of the clash between the fifth and sixth-placed sides finely balanced and County leading 1-0 into the final four minutes, Matt Tootle tackled Coventry's Tom Bayliss inside his own area - or so he thought.

Referee Ward pointed to the spot despite precious little in the way of protest from the hosts, allowing Marc McNulty to level in the dying moments, and give the Sky Blues something to hold onto ahead of the second leg at Meadow Lane on Friday night.
