Alex McLeish is the most disliked national manager on social media after another poor display against Israel last night.

The Scotland manager's reign has got off to a far from ideal start after picking up only two wins from seven games, with last night's humiliation in Haifa another setback for the 59-year-old.

Despite taking the lead against Israel via a Charlie Mulgrew penalty, they were lucky not to lose by a wider margin after Dor Peretez equalised early in the second half.

It only got worse for the Scots from there after John Souttar was sent off, and Kieran Tierney 's own goal condemned McLeish's side to another loss.

Fans didn't hold back on social media, with a study by BetVictor showing 45 per cent of posts involving the Scotland boss' name on Twitter and Facebook were negative.

In contrast, only nine per cent of posts painted McLeish in a positive light, with Ireland's Martin O'Neill the only man below him.

The study has so far analysed over eight million tweets during the World Cup and the ongoing UEFA Nations League group matches.

Of the international managers in the Home Nations, Ryan Giggs is the most popular, with Gareth Southgate's popularity on a steady decline.
