Liverpool's Sadio Mane to be monitored after successful treatment on hand injury

Liverpool have announced forward Sadio Mane has undergone a successful procedure on the hand he injured while on international duty.

Mane will now be monitored ahead of Liverpool's trip to Huddersfield on Saturday

The 26-year-old has been away with Senegal and after images emerged of him wearing a bandage on his left hand, it was reported he had suffered a broken thumb.

Liverpool announced on Wednesday: "Sadio Mane today underwent a procedure on a hand injury sustained while on international duty with Senegal.

"The surgery, conducted at a north-west hospital and supervised by club medics, was successful.

"Mane's recovery will be monitored over the next couple of days ahead of the Reds' return to action at Huddersfield Town on Saturday."
